Why the mirror matters

A centimeter can decide the mitzvah.

The Torah says to place tefillin “between your eyes,” and the Sages teach this means on the head, not the forehead. The shel rosh has a precise place, and you can’t see it without a mirror.

  • Height
Above the hairlineThe bottom edge of the bayit sits at or above where your hair begins. Even part of it resting on the forehead is a problem.
  • Center
In line with the space between your eyesNot drifting to the left or right as you daven.
  • Limit
Within the soft spot zoneThe whole bayit stays within the area where a baby’s skull is soft.
  • Knot
Kesher at the backThe knot rests at the base of the skull, centered above the nape of the neck.

You can’t see your own head. Keep the mirror in your bag and check in seconds, at home, at shul, in a hotel or an airport, wherever you daven.

The problem nobody plans for

Tefillin travel with you every day. That’s how they get left behind.

Most lost tefillin aren’t stolen. They’re simply forgotten, in places like these:

  • A shul bench after Shacharit
  • An overhead bin on a flight
  • Airport security trays
  • A hotel room after a simcha
  • A taxi or carpool
  • A yeshiva dorm or office

Written by hand

Every parsha is handwritten on parchment by a sofer. A new pair takes skill and time to produce.

Costly to replace

A quality pair often costs well over $1,000, and finding a mehudar replacement can take weeks.

Days without them

Losing your pair before a trip or a busy week can mean scrambling to borrow every morning.

Irreplaceable memories

Many pairs carry history: a bar mitzvah gift, a wedding gift, a pair from a father or grandfather.

How the tracker saves them
